John Prine Hospitalized With COVID-19 Symptoms: “His Situation Is Critical”

Singer/songwriter John Prine, 73, has been hospitalized after suffering from COVID-19 symptoms.

John’s family released a statement via Instagram on March 29: “After a sudden onset of COVID-19 symptoms, John was hospitalized on Thursday. He was intubated Saturday evening, and continues to receive care, but his situation is critical. This is hard news for us to share. But so many of you have loved and supported John over the years, we wanted to let you know, and give you the chance to send out more of that love and support now. And know that we love you, and John loves you.”

John’s wife, Fiona, revealed she tested positive for COVID-19 on March 19.

John is a two-time Grammy winner, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member, PEN New England Lyrics Award recipient, and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominee. His songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Carly Simon, Bette Midler, Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Zac Brown Band and many others.
