Jana Kramer Dances Through Painful Injury in Week Two of “Dancing With the Stars”

Jana Kramer showed her toughness on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars last night (Sept. 19) as the “I Got the Boy” singer had to dance through the pain of an injury she sustained during the previous week’s practice.

You could see the pain on Jana’s face as the rehearsal tape showed her injury. After visiting the doctor it was revealed that Jana strained her rib muscles—an injury that would sideline a lot of people. But Jana, not wanting to leave in week two, persevered and danced through the pain.

“Week one was so good, I don’t want to be a disappointment in week two,” Jana said on the show. “I’m very worried that we’re not going to get through the dance. I don’t want to leave the second week in.”

To honor her character, Alex Dupre, from the CW’s One Tree Hill, Jana hit the floor with her partner, Gleb Savchenko, to dance the tango to the TV series’ theme song, “I Don’t Want to Be”—sung live by special guest Gavin DeGraw.

While Jana didn’t receive the best scores of the night, she’s still in the game. Judge Len Goodman, who didn’t care for her dance last week, gave her an 8 this week, which was the highest score among the judges. The remaining three judges—Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli—each awarded Jana with 7s, bringing her total score to 29 out of 40.

“I love the passion. I love your drive. I love what you put into the performance. You really live every moment. I love that. The chemistry is brilliant,” Bruno said. “You missed a couple of passes. You have to be very careful with intricate choreography to make it smooth and flowy. End the extension. Use the back of the leg. Extend from the back through the toe.”

Watch Jana and Gleb’s tango and tune in to ABC tonight (Sept. 20) at 8 p.m. ET to see who gets eliminated this week. You can also see the premiere of the CMA’s new “Forever Country” video.
