Shania Announces Final Tour

Shania Twain will begin her first major tour in over a decade this spring. The Rock This Country tour kicks off in June and includes 50 dates in the United States and Canada. The soon-to-be 50-year-old says it will be her last tour.

“I feel like I’m ready to hang my hat up in that regard,” Twain explained after announcing the tour on Good Morning America Wednesday morning (March 4). “I just really want to go out with a bang.”

It’s actually been 11 years since the superstar wrapped the Up! tour. Since then she’s performed spot shows and held a two-year residency in Las Vegas. The Shania: Still the One Live from Vegas CD and DVD was released on Tuesday, featuring highlights from her run at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

In an interview with Taste of Country Nights radio, Twain said fans who saw her in Vegas can expect “a completely new show, an entirely new theme than the Las Vegas show.”

“It’s just gonna be a real, kickin’ hard-hitting, fun party show,” she shares..

The Rock This Country tour begins in Seattle before heading north into Canada for nearly a month. In July, the 49-year-old begins a run down the east coast before hitting venues in the midwest and west. The tour wraps on August 23 in Fresno, Calif.

It’s not clear if a new album will accompany the tour. Twain mentioned new music while talking to GMA‘s Robin Roberts, but said her priority is this tour. Her last studio album was Up!, released in 2002.

Tickets for Twain’s Rock This Country tour go on sale to the public on March 13. Wes Mack will open the Seattle and Canadian dates. Gavin DeGraw will open U.S. dates.
